yesterday

we had friends visiting on a nice sunny winter day. cold air, but the sun was warm and the light beautiful as the day came to an end.

i cannot believe we're soon entering a new year. as of right now the most important decision we mad was that we need to move on. i count on figuring out where to in 2013. should be possible, eh?

white light

dreaming away on  winter afternoon. we're still here, but the days are very full and so, they are passing too fast. holding on to those little moments.

wishing you a bright weekend.

endings :: instagram selection

considering whether to stay or to go. from instagram, but that's the theme right now anyway, so that's fitting.

the new terms they introduced are too much, but i have a feeling, or at least i'm hoping, they'll be doing some backtracking. i know a free service is never really for free. especially not on the internet. like they're saying: if you're getting it for free, you're not the customer, you're the product.

but still. there's a limit to what rights you'll sign off like that. i'm posting photos of friends and family. no way will i ever want to give up all rights of what context these photos can appear in. do i even have the right to do that? if i want to sell any photo to stock photos i'd have to get permission from anyone appearing in the photos... so how would someone else be able to just take my word for it?

we'll see. it's been fun so far. maybe it wasn't meant to be more than that.

for now the instagram selection is still coming through.

somewhere, between black and white

we're back, but i haven't settled in yet. got back a couple of days ago and started school and work and life in general immediately. but my mind has still to settle in, and then od course, there are the suitcases to unpack.

i feel distracted, sentimental, excited, emotional, tired and hopeful - all depending on whether i try to decide what doors to close and what doors to open. and at the same time aware of how much i need to focus on here and now. inhale, exhale. one day at a time.

when it feels just right

like this friday afternoon at the beach, just before sunset.

just before we got there we had a giant meltdown in the car because someone forgot to bring that specific lego figure that was to be shown to a special cousin later in the evening (no, that someone wasn't me). and as we got to the car we got attacked by a billion mosquitos that had us literally throw the kids into the car, all wet and covered in sand, while we were slightly (but still completely out of proportion) hysteric.

but that time right there on the beach was just perfect.

i wish i could take a moment like that, wrap it up and save it for another time where it would be just the right moment to dig out this feeling. photos will have to do :)

.... tomorrow i'm off to snowy cold denmark. yeah!

we're going to have so much fun!

yes, you may call me a dreamer

a note on the world outside my little bubble.

with all that happens here, happened in the past few weeks and for centuries, and what will most likely happen in the future (i certainly don't expect the future to be easy, oh no, not around here): i believe that the recognition of palestine in the UN, symbolic or not, was right and fair and not a moment too soon.

there is no one truth here.

history is subjective, it's about beliefs, what was left out and how you choose to read it.

i choose to believe with all my heart that most of us really just want a place we can call home, where we feel safe and believe we have a future, for ourselves and our children. and if that is granted to us we might be able to stop the fighting, some day, down the road.

yes, i know, i'm a dreamer. is there any other choice? what else can one be?

congratulations palestine.

a moment of melting

i was trying to sort photos and empty the camera. and then i fell over these from a couple of weeks back. i think i just melted there for a moment. and then, after dragging myself up from the floor, i decided to go all mother-ish on you and share.

he went to kindergarten with a sleeveless shirt under a long sleeved blouse. he came home like this.

hope you're having a wonderful weekend.
